"Guandu Decadal Anniversary, Birds Exhibition (or Bird’s Paradise?) " The Nature Workshop
National Palace Museum's collection of “Three Friends and One Hundred Birds” has inherited the spirit of flower-and-bird painting of the Sung Dynasty. In which the artist composed its work with a sense of richness by carefully observing and portraying the growth and biological activity of flora and fauna, namely birds’ displayed positions including resting, jumping, looking attentively, or flying in this case. Using the most commonly sighted feathered creatures as prototypes, the workshop is designed to allow participants employ techniques of straw weaving birds’ body with natural materials, assembling of wooden body parts, and stitching leaves to make bird’s feather, among other creative ways of designs to build their production. Finished work will be staged at separate locations of specific bird habitat. It is our intention to dedicate this collective work of art in celebration of the founding of the nation’s100th anniversary, as well as Guandu Nature Park’s 10th anniversary. Please come and join us in wishing both the nation and the park rich blessings for longevity and success.
